  If you need a great arts accountant to answer all these questions and more (and also explain tax rulings that apply only to artists and no one else), Sydney's Electra Frost comes with great recommendations. http://www.electrafrost.com.au/ I use Brian Tucker in Brisbane, who specialises in arts accounting, whose accountants can do everything via email and phone. They're the jizz. http://www.briantuckercpa.org/ Good arts accountants are invaluable, and know all about this stuff regular workers mightn't encounter, like grants, fellowships, book advances, royalties, and what you can/can't claim as a deduction as an artist.
