About us
Weaver's Roost Resort is a peaceful and tranquil retreat close to the city. Quietness and nature will envelope you, recharging your inner strength. The beautiful big trees, mountain and river will bring calm to your soul. Bushbuck are frequently seen, along with monkeys, baboons and bush babies. The odd kudu is something that brings great joy. Bird lovers flock here as many species can be seen that are not present on the highveld 5km away. The habitat resembles that of the bushveld / lowveld.
We have four different picnic areas for day visitors, ranging from the more busy swimming pool area, to the quiet bush haven.
Then there are forty camping sites on three terraces. Upper terrace is on the river bank. Middle terrace the closest to the ablutions and then lower terrace have more space for bigger groups. The ablutions have recently been upgraded and is of high standard.
You can also rent a fully equipped caravan if you wish to camp but don't have any equipment.
There are seven chalets, sleeping from two to seven people each. Upgrading is under way, so there are some with standard finish, some with comfort finish, and some with de Lux finish. We also have 4 secluded bush log cabins, that sleep four people each in de Lux finish.
A water slide at the swimming pool is a big attraction, and the hiking trail up the mountain for the more active. Then there is a pool table in the DSTV room, a playground including a trampoline for the kids, and a kiosk with all the necessities. Great bird watching for the bird lovers.
We are on the doorstep of The Cradle of Human Kind, and the Maropeng complex is about 12km away. The Sterkfontein Caves, the Wonder Caves, hot air ballooning, and a big five reserve are close by. A little further is the Hartbeespoort Dam with it's cable car, zoo and other amenities. All part of the Magalies Meander around us.
