As some of you are aware, a while back I began crocheting and selling items to support the Coldest Night of the Year Walk. This walk took place last weekend and was a huge success for the Samaritan Centre! So, now what? I am continuing to create pieces in order to generate further funds to serve the homeless/street people in our community. I have no idea how the funds will be used, as trust needs to be built between them and us (MJ Meekis and I) - but I have a dream of getting to the point of providing "that thing" that will make them feel real and worth something again. What does this mean - no clue. ASL courses for the deaf woman we met? Professional haircuts? Massage? Mani/Pedis? Prenatal vitamins/parenting courses? Toiletries? We are committed to developing relationships with them and are awaiting a meeting time with Pastor Rene, from the Elgin Street Mission, to pick his brain about how we can best go about this with as few obstacles (of every kind imaginable, really) as possible. I truly believe that a even a small amount of hope can radically change the course of a life.
So, if you have purchased an item THANK YOU. If you have shared a post of an item THANK YOU. If you want an item THANK YOU. If you had no idea this was even happening, but took the time to read this THANK YOU.
