  Does anybody know of an inexpensive mode of transportation in Elgin? I currently do not have a car. I recently had hip surgery and am not able to walk to the bus stop. Taxi is too expensive. I need to get to St. Joes a few times a week for Physical Therapy. Replies much appreciated!

  Elgin Medic if you have state insurance. Well my dad used it about a year ago when he had his defibrillator put in at St. Joes. They took him (and me because they allow one person to ride with IF they're your support buddy) from his place in C'Ville to St. Joes & back home when he was discharged from there. It's worth a try.   Does anyone have a recommendation for a local transportation service that is either an ambulance service or even a van with a wheelchair lift? My mom has dementia and Parkinson's. Saturday she fell out of bed and broke her shoulder. My sister nor I feel comfortable getting get her in and out of our SUV's. On Tuesday she had to go to the orthopedic doctor and we hired Elgin medi-transport. They were fine when they came to get her, but we had to wait an hour for them to come pick her up from the doctor.
