If sessions last so long how does billing work?
Each of my clients will discuss a very affordable sliding scale fee for service. I do not increase my prices due to the length of sessions. That is what is so unique. It's about the journey not the money.
Where are you from and how did you get into this business?
I am from Orlando, Florida. I have a great passion for working with teens and families. I have been in the field for over 14 years. I started out as a teacher fresh out of school from FSU. I loved the behaviors and unique ways to reach the troubled kids. I was less interested in the academic aspect and more in the mental health. This propelled me to obtain my Masters degree from Barry University in Mental Health/Marriage and Family Counseling
Describe a typical work day for you?
I see my clients on average weekly for 90 to 2 hours. I do not subscribe to the practice of 50 minute sessions and feel that the process of healing and self growth cannot be contained in an hour or client driven by the therapist to see as many clients in one day as possible. I keep a low client load so I can be effective with the ones I see. I may see on average 2-3 clients a day.
From where do you draw your enthusiasm and inspiration for the job?
My clients give me the ongoing passion for my work. Nothing brings me more joy than to see them overcome past pain, issues that lead them into therapy. The inner strength of the human spirit is truly amazing and I am blessed to be front and center for this beautiful transformation.
How can a customer ensure that they receive the best possible service from you?
Any of my past clients would be willing at a drop of a feather to speak on my behalf as a professional and effective counselor that goes above and beyond. That says a lot since in my field confidentiality is a must.
What has been your most memorable experience on the job?
Watching love come into the lives of my clients as pain, fear and hurt exits.
