It would be extra helpful if you have recommendations for someone in NYC! My dog has always had a problem with itching, but his regular vet has been pretty useless on this issue, i.e. I'll bring it up during appointments but they brush it off as no big deal. He also licks his paws a lot, stops mid-activity to scratch in the same spots, and just seems generally uncomfortable. So I want to figure out how to help him better because so far switching his food and adding supplements doesn't seem to be doing much. Does anyone have advice on how to find a specialist (or have any recommendations - I'm in NYC!)

Asked her to take him to the vet who told her he has very aggressive lung cancer. No tests outside x-rays are done, but he is not eating and his breathing labored. His belly's bloody, and the skin on his paws is bumpy and pink. We've tried everything (grain and chicken free foods, and he's now stella & chewy's raw beef). He also had the HESKA allergy test done (blood), but it showed he was only allergic to Corn Pollen and Wheat. I feel terrible seeing him like this. Please, please, all recommendations are welcome. Fleur C. replied:Try Dr Macina at the animal medical center cannot rave enough about the effort he goes to with our frenchie and her allergies! Maybe the drug apoquel would be good for your baby? Ours is too young yet for it but it is meant to be lifechanging! He does have a very long wait though around 2 months

However the process itself worked out at about 5K with vet visits, flights, quarantine stay. One two places in NYC did the rabies vaccination at the time. He was about 17 yrs old. If you call the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan I'm sure they could advise you. They have a special rehab center for dogs. We took our Westie there after hip surgery and did really well.
