The Wildcats of Kilkenny were formed in 1991 – a response to Mike being called a ‘******* Geordie” by long time hero and style guru Shane MacGowan.
Meeting for the first time on a cold November day, the lads went onto perform to a packed village hall in Egglescliffe, Teesside. Within months their reputation spread and over the years their irreverent, manic and highly charged performances have been enjoyed by thousands over the world.
From Billingham to Beijing, Dormanstown to Donegal and Eaglescliffe to Edinburgh, The Wildcats have brought a stomping, smiling crowd to their feet. 500 weddings, 2 funerals and 8 practices in, the boys now approach their 20th year with a glint in their eye, a spring in their step and a fanbase like none other.
Has anyone hired or knows of a fun ceilidh band around Durham?
Claire M. replied:
I would say dusk til dawn for ceildh, but if the emphasis is more on "fun" than "ceilidh" I would ALWAYS recommend the wildcats of Kilkenny, esp if is for Paddy's day. https://www.facebook.com/thewildcats/
