I think putting up shades would be really helpful. Are there any local companies that you would recommend to make and install custom solar shades?

  We priced out blinds at Costco, 3 Day Blinds and HomeDepot. We ended up ordering free samples from an online retailer and ultimately ordered our blinds from them as well. They were 1/3 the cost of the competition and you can order the exact height/length you want. You can usually find a % discount codes on google too. http://www.blindster.com
