Hello fellow Rexburg-ers. Hopefully this post is appropriate for a page like this, but I'm in desperate need for advise... Recently, we have faced a difficult dilemma with our apartment complex. We moved to this complex just 3 months ago and have been flooded 2 (almost 3) times from sewage back up. It was confirmed that this flooding is due to a flaw in the plumbing of our building, plus an above tenant flushing things that they shouldn't.
This most recent flood happened on Thanksgiving day, meaning we were out of town and came back home to a flooded mess that had been sitting in sewage for 3 days. Our complex did not come help us clean it up for another 24hrs after we had gotten home.
Even though there are many elements of this situation that need to be addressed, I am most concerned about sanitation and possible health risks to my family. This complex has not taken any immediate action to solving the problem... Who can I contact in Rexburg that could have any control over this issue? I would love to contact the city's department of Health (if we have one), but the only place I've found is the Department of Health and Welfare (in charge of government programs such as food stamps and medicaid)... Would this be the right place? Please let me know if you have any ideas for me! Thanks in advance.
