  Pat Rosier , Bicycle Michael's is the only shop I know of that rents road bikes. I guess they also have mountain bikes to rent, but I'm not entirely certain. They are on the other side of the French Quarter from the Convention Center. There are a few other places that rent cruiser type bikes, mainly for tourists. If you are interested in, and have time for, local weekday or weekend group training rides, let me know and I can fill you in.

  Although Bicycle Michael's is on the far side of the Quarter, you can get there easily on the river front streetcar. Take it all the way to the last stop at Esplanade Ave. and you're about three blocks away

  I have rented from Bicycle Michael's when I did the first inaugural Bike the Big Easy .They have a selection of newer road bikes for rent. I rented a new one with 105's and I'm sure you can make arrangements to rent one with better components. They also installed my own pedals while I waited. Service was excellent.
