The pipes are very old and I heard some noise tonight and went out back and one of the old pipes cracked and is spraying out water. The hose is attached - I thought we disconnected it but we must've used it for some reason and forgotten so I'm thinking ice backed up into it and it cracked. We need someone to come out in the morning to see about replacing it - we are wanting to redo all of our water lines in the spring because the house is so old. Last night before going to bed I noticed water squish up from under our laminate tile downstairs...upon searching our basement/bedroom(finished) I found that the drain pan to the water heater was full and, of course, draining out onto the floor. I sopped up all the water I could from the floor, started our dehumidifier, and have a fan running. After the drain pan was troweled dry, it looks like the water is coming from under the water heater...meaning a leak from inside??? Anyways, I need someone to tell me if I need a replacement unit of if cheap repairs can be made to it.
