About us

I decided to become a RDA Circle Leader and advocate for cloth diapers because when I started cloth diapering my twins, my family and friends did not know a thing about modern cloth diapers. No one had heard anything about the advancement in diapering children and most advised me against cloth diapering two babies at a time. They thought I was nuts! My friends knew even less about cloth diapers. I knew no one who used cloth diapers when I began using them on the twins. I had to figure out how to cloth diaper the babies as newborns, in overnight situations, using rash creams, develop a wash routine, and even fix their diapers on my own. I want families to be able to have a network so that they can lean on each other for support. The real diaper association has certified me to lead this circle and trained me in cloth diaper care. I am a member of the Real Diaper Association (https://www.facebook.com/RealDiaperAssociation?fref=ts).

Please no ISOs or for sale, offering or asking for anything free, etc. There is a cloth diaper chat group that is closed and private. We can talk more there. Real Diaper Circle of Rhode Island Group Chat https://www.facebook.com/pages/Real-Diaper-Circle-of-Rhode-Island/465045813649580

Please be kind. Parenting has a lot of emotionally driven topics and we need to be careful not to offend anyone, especially new moms who are especially sensitive. This is a no-judgement zone. Just because you parent one way doesn't mean that's the only way. Something that works for you may not work for another family. We're all in this together!

Please do not post to other groups or sources that do not have the same inclusive, scientific based, non-judgmental philosophy. Diapering, much like clothing is not "one size fits all" as the Momma right next door could have a totally different set of problems, situations, or experiences that you do not have (ex: natural fibers vs. pre-folds, HE machine vs. Top Loader, hard water issues...). I ask that you... show more
stick to personal experiences in your posts and refrain from this "one size fits all" mentality.

VISION
Real Diaper Association sees more U.S. babies in cloth diapers. Together with parents, local activists, and business people, we will create this cultural shift one baby at a time.

LOCAL VISION
My cloth diaper advocacy vision is to expand cloth diapering in the community by helping families in need gain access to donated cloth diapers, make diapers, and purchase the most useful diapers for their family situation. Concurrently, I plan to educate families about cloth diapering care, proper use, and donation facilities that are available when diapers are no longer needed thus bringing cloth full circle back to people who need them for financial reasons.

MISSION
The Real Diaper Association is a collective non-profit organization in which parents and small businesses take the lead in creating a cultural shift to increase the use of simple, reusable cloth diapers. We connect current cloth diapering parents to the long history of cloth diapering. Cloth diapers are real diapers. The Association organizes local advocates and activists for cloth diapers through a member-supported resource center which plans campaigns, trains organizers, distributes educational information, supports local groups, and connects users to the Cloth Diaper industry. Local Real Diaper Circles reach users face-to-face with knowledge and tools to make cloth diapering accessible and acceptable to U.S. parents, who have the power to change the world one baby at a time.

VALUES
Real Diaper Association believes that local Leaders can best find local solutions when advocating cloth diapering.
We prefer collective organization and leadership.
We favor face-to-face interactions among organizers and members.
We choose open, nonviolent communication.
We favor simple, sustainable diapering made available and affordable for everyone.
Babies deserve to wear real 100% reusable cloth diapers. show more
