Describe a typical work day for you?
Take the kids to school, sort through the e-mails, feed my horse and muck out, input reservations, clean some of the rooms, collect children, check people in, feed the family, tidy the house, feed the horse again work for a spell on the bar, do the pub quiz or recite poetry perhaps.
From where do you draw your enthusiasm and inspiration for the job?
I just love the Lake District so much, walking the fells on a nice day is heavenly. I enjoy meeting new people and I also enjoy housekeeping making the place nice for new guests.
How can a customer ensure that they receive the best possible service from you?
Get advice about walks/ drives around the Lakes. When it is busy expect a little wait for food as it is freshly prepared. Enjoy the entertainment and atmosphere in the main bar on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
What has been your most memorable experience on the job?
Sitting in the bar with a room full of very happy people listening to local musicians take their turn to entertain the room. We also have a festival every year these are always wonderful occasions
Where are you from and how did you get into this business?
Originally Sunderland, then lived in Kent for 20 years. I then moved to the North Lake District (which was a bit of dream come true), I worked at Armathwaite Hall then my husband joined me and we decided to get a place together.
