  I have a female mastiff we are looking at getting her fixed. It was recommended that we not do it until she has her first heat, which of course means she's going to be rather large (6mos and 75lbs now). We were quoted anywhere between 400 and 600. I was wondering if anyone knows of any spay/neuter clinics that go on or if there is somewhere else I can take her that won't break the bank.

  Don't know if anyone here remembers a dog we pulled from Forever Paws at year or so ago, Opie... his mom needs a low cost vet located new Portsmith, RI...This is what she wrote to us: Do you know of any vet resources in or near RI that offer lower cost services? Heather called me very upset this morning because Opie is sick and she needs to find a low cost vet near her (she now lives in Johnston, RI) who can do an ultrasound. She took him in on Tuesday and they did bloodwork and an xray and gave him anti-nauseu meds and fluids and sent him home. They saw some inflammation of his abdomen but they didn't see a blockage. He hasn't gotten any better and she's very worried and unfortunately can't afford more services because she already paid $800 and that was everything she had. I will help her out if she needs it but also want to try to find her a place to go that she might qualify for low income care. I told her to call Pet Partners in Fall River to see if they do ultrasound or know somewhere in RI that is similar but also thought that I would reach out to you. Does anyone have some options for her... Opie is a very special boy!

She hasn't eaten on weeks, she needs to have a few teeth extracted and of course antibiotics. Besides this problem, she is healthy. I don't want to see her suffer. I can't afford hundreds of dollars. Best of luck to you She also said if you get food stamps, ssi or ssdi they have even cheaper rates. You could try calling them and see what the prices are.
