  This summer, I'm hoping that my husband and I can take our 3 kids (9,5,2) on a few days trips. We don't have a huge budget. Does anyone know of anywhere family friendly we could go? I'm looking for places no more than 1.5 hours from Claysville, that is safe, inexpensive and fun. Educational is a plus! Does anyone know if the Carnegie museum/science center has a fee to get in? Also considering places like Laurel Caverns and the Meadowcroft rock shelter. Would love to hear about some less popular places as well, as I'm not very comfortable with large crowds. Any suggestions or information would be very appreciated! TIA!

  Meadowcroft in Avella has some wonderful stuff for kids. Not just the ancient history stuff, but an active living history colonial settlement and Native American camp. http://www.heinzhistorycenter.org/meadowcroft/
