The Durban Runner Morningside (Justin Hand) and The Durban Runner Glenwood (Zane Ebrahim and Prodigal Kumalo) is the best place to get running shoes in Durban. Both stores are managed by running expects who are Silver and Gold Comrades medalists with actual running experience in cross-country, track, short and long distances as well as trail experience. They will assess your feet, enquire about your running history and future running plans and recommend running shoe brand and fit that is ideal for you and what you want to achieve. I would not recommend buying running shoes online (unless you have at least had a foot assessment) if you are a long distance runner. I have made a painful mistake of buying a shoe brand that most of my running friends were wearing (later I found that they preferred that brand for styling rather than benefits to their running) only to have blisters and painful feet and joints for days after long runs that required expensive physio to fix. My physio recommended that I see a running shoe specialist. When I did, it was recommended that I buy a male shoe in a different brand than the one that was hurting me becasue I have a high arch and wide feet. Anyway a few years later, shoe brands have introduced wider toe box with the right support for my ankles and arch without the tightness in their prettier women's range. Speaking of which, shoe manufacturers are always improving shoe designs for effecient running. Online reviews can't be 100% relied upon to access how good a running shoe will be for your feet, running style and running goals. You must update your running shoes regularly as a result. You will save a fortune in physio and other doctors fees by just wearing the correct running shoe. Injury prevention is certainly better than cure when it comes to running.
