  Hey Kevin, a lot of firefighters go to Dr. William Kennedy Main at Lenox Hill (212) 396-3274. I was talking to one of his patients yesterday and another guy butted in and said he's the best back surgeon in the area--my friend agreed. I can't speak from first hand experience, though it seems to me every member of the FDNY that has a back injury is sent to him. If nothing else he has lots of experience.
