  I need a recommendation for a good vet. We moved to Belvidere a year ago and have taken our dog to Belvidere Family Pet Clinic on Pearl. I do not care for the service there so far and want to find a different vet. I don't like the tie down tables, my dog doesn't need one and it was traumatizing for her to just get her shots. When I said something about it the vet made a dismissive comment about no dog ever dying on the table. A friend we met after visiting this vet told us he took his giant breed there to be spayed and she bled profusely requiring an extended stay, though they tried to keep him in the dark about what happened. The vet wanted to do a blood test every 6 months for a very low dose of medication our dog needs. Our prior vets have only required that once a year and they charge more for the medication compared to what we paid elsewhere. I'd like to find someone with knowledge of giant breeds and affordability is important. Any recommendations are appreciated. Please include why you like or dislike a particular vet. My 2 nd choice would be Dr. Dan at State Street Animal Clinic he is great as well 😊
