The time estimate on the project was 3-4 hours and I know that the cost of supplies (from checking at Lowes) would be under $200 (likely much lower than that, but I'm allowing $200 to be generous). The amount of pex pipe required is in the quote and cost is included in the quote. I asked for a breakdown of materials and labour but was told that they don't charge that way; they only have fixed prices, per job. This quote seems excessive to me, given the cost of the materials. Even if you were to allow $300 in materials (probably double the actual cost), the labour works out to close to $400 per hour, since it's a 3-4 hour job. Am I wrong to be questioning the validity of this quote?
