About Michelle:
As a figure skater for 9 years, my life had always been about movement, learning the jumps, twists and spins. Throughout the years each performance was photographed and as I gazed at those photos, I didn't just see a skater frozen in place; all the training, tears and laughter came rushing back. Even the tears I once shed on that cold, cold ice now warmed my heart, those difficult times now transformed into happy memories. It was magical! I knew one day I wanted to do more than just create those moments, I wanted capture them for others and bring that same joy to them.
In high school I was introduced to 35mm film and a whole new world was opened up to me. Creating a photo was more than just pointing and clicking a button. The process was much more hands on, and just being in the dark room and developing those images unraveled a sense of excitement within me, the same felt when perfectly executing a flying sit spin. I learned the subject of a photo not only had to be dynamic and action packed; the quietest of moments contained a beauty all its own. I knew I could spend a lifetime doing this!
I have now graduated Algonquin College's 2 year Photography program earning a diploma as well as incredible experience and knowledge! With my EOS 7D camera by side as well as the proper equipment, I am now capable of capturing, creating and altering images at professional level. I have shot lifestyle, portrait & wedding photos, but am capable of much more! The same determination once used to perform a perfect maneuver in skating is now channelled into capturing the perfect shot.
Despite my experience with the ice, my craft is not about freezing the moment but rather capturing it and I'd would love the opportunity to capture and preserve yours too.
