RHI I'm looking for a good vet for my dogs spay. The prices seem astronomically high round here so if I'm going to be paying so much I want her to have the best :)

The Vet Southampton are brilliant and very reasonable.
Lotty L. replied:
Try the vet in Millbrook they are best priced
Robert P. replied:
I don't use local vet any more prices two high go to the vet Gorton much cheaper
Gem W. replied:
The vet in Millbrook are excellent and the price being lower is just a bonus, my dog has problems and he gets really nervous when he goes to vets and they are always so calm and patient with him, also had my cat spayed there and the cost includes all aftercare

Have been using Forest Lodge for years, wouldn't go anywhere else. All the vets are lovely and all of my dogs have always been excited to go in!!
Can anyone recommend a reasonable vet x I used to be with PDSA but am no longer entitled as benefits stopped x my dog is scratching like mad and has a lump come up on her side but can't afford large vet bills

The Vet, Highams park near Tescos, have been brilliant for me and cheaper than other local vets.
Barbara M. replied:
the vet Highams Park, cheaper than pets at home
Carly C. replied:
Kelly if you do go to the vet in Highams Park book online and use the code in the photo, your first trip will be £9.99. Think consultations are only £22.99 after that, so much cheaper than other vets.
Hi All
Any suggestions for a reasonably priced vet? Anything cheaper than 4Paws would be great..... :)
Thanks so much!

We tried 'The Vet' in Morden Road and were very pleased with service and pricing. 0203 780 7903 / www.thevet.co.uk

The vet is reasonably priced. It's in Morden on Morden road I think it is.

Vets seem to be so cagey about prices. There's nothing upfront: you're just presented with a bill at the end, rather than being told prices when treatment is suggested. Can we at least compare standard consultation fees? I have two to offer from within the past year (cat): I Winter was £25.80 and Broadway Vet (Tooting) was £47.70 - nearly twice as much. Another thing which should be comparable is written prescriptions (where the vet gives you a letter to let you obtain medicine online for a vast saving): Broadway Vet charges £15.50 for this. Alice and Jade, are you able to share with us the costs for either of these from the vets you mention, or anything else you might think relevant? An alternative is Vets4Pets in Pets At Home on Plough Lane. One thing they offer is Vac4Life which covers annual vaccinations for as long as your cat or dog lives for £99, which to me seems very good value. There's also a coupon in last week's Local Guardian to include the initial vaccination in this price. I don't have any experience of this vet. And on pet costs generally (but not vets), there's also the trick of saving between about 80 and 90% of the cost of Advantage flea treatment I mentioned here yesterday.
