We had his ears completely cleared out of wax, hair, and debris and treated with antibiotics. It cleared for a few weeks, but then he of course got yeast from the antibiotics. We have been battling that for months, I think because the infection is down in his ear canal again and the yeasty wax is sticking to his ear hair deep where I can't see. It seems like we will have to have his ears completely cleared again and treat for yeast specifically again so that it does not keep coming back! I know lots of mamas use GSE to treat their baby's tush after antibiotics and successfully get rid of yeast that way. Any idea if GSE would be safe for going inside his ears? I don't want to do any harm to him, but feel like antibiotics is just creating a cycle of needing more. Any more "natural" minded vets in town that might have alternative options? --Sandra

His Vet put him on rimadyl, one half tablet in the morning and one half tablet in the evening, to see if that would help him with getting around and with his pain. We discovered he was in pain when my other husky, Beowulf, stepped on Athelwulf's back leg and Athelwulf lunged at Beowulf and they got in a fight. I want to make sure Athelwulf has the best quality of life possible, but I heard that keeping a dog on rimadyl long-term is not a good option. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone know of any other options for him? Any help or advice would be appreciated, thank you :)

  I feed Seth wellness core , it has no fillers, only turkey, chicken and fish.. I fed him the diet cause of the weight with the cushings.. both my dogs love it .. as far as the skin do you give fishoil or flax ,, seth is on flax for his cushings .. I also tried Dinovite .. cause one dog has skin allergies and I dont want to use cortizone.. and it works great .. its a nutritional supplement .. ask your vet or others here .. it works for me
