I get a grey screen with a folder with a question mark flashing and it won't boot. I have about 30k songs in my itunes and important pics that I would like to rescue. I either need a new HD (have a spare) or the HD connection cable needs to be replaced. I'd like to find someone/a business to do it that is not the Apple store. I foresee the Apple store being a last stop as I would imagine hardware is most expensive through them. Would like to support a small business or compensate an individual with skillz.   The first business that came up in a google search for "Denver Mac Repair" was http://www.denvermacrepair.com/ , whom I have dealt with previously and found to be a bunch of decent folks. If you are lucky, it's just a loose cable. I hope you are lucky!

  Sorry, I don't. I've not come across anything I couldn't tackle myself with the help of ifixit.com. However, I have heard that denvermacrepair.com themacoutlet.com are good places in Denver, and themacshack.net in Boulder is worth a shot, too. Then there's always the Apple Store Genius Bar. I found their help troubleshooting to be excellent, and use that knowledge to fix the problem myself.
