Best day trips in 3 hour radius? My best friend and I are trying to take fun day trips as often as we can. The weekend before last we went to House on the Rock up in Wisconsin and got dinner in Madison afterwards. Before that we did the Volo antique mall which was almost just as good.
We most like weird stuff (like House on the Rock), old stuff (museums, architecture, antiques), craft fairs/unusual festivals, or shopping (thrift stores or nice little local areas like Geneva). Not so much into sports or hiking, but whatever you’ve got within a 3 hour radius of the Carol Stream/Wheaton area I’d love to hear it.
Any recommendations?

Illinois Railway Museum is amazing if you're interested in trains even a little (or have kids that are). You get to ride really old/cool/rare trains around a several-mile loop, and they change out the trains all the time (lots of "running stock"). https://www.irm.org/
Hopefully, some will appreciate topic on something other than real estate listings. I need to replace the roofing on NYC 19520, which originally had a canvas roof. I replaced the TG roof decking on...
IRM (irm.org) regularly does canvas roofs including a canvas caboose roof. I believe there is an interurban car in the electric car shop is about to get canvas roof applied. Basically
