Susan T. replied:My recommendations have been mentioned already - Kripalu in western Mass. has intensive retreats - where you do the whole program in about 3 weeks I think. (I personally think it's better NOT to do that because Yoga is all about practice, practice, practice, and getting a heavy dose all at once is a lot to handle at one time - however, others swear by it). I got my 200-hour RYT through YogaFit - and you can take their sessions in bunches at their 4-day meetings around the country or in separate 2-4 day sessions, also spread around the country. They do have intensive retreats - India and Oregon I think - but I think they're aimed at 500-hour folks. The real plus about YogaFit IMHO is that it is oriented towards folks who aim to teach at gyms to all ranges of abilities, NOT just in Yoga studios; so as a result, they modify some of the moves to especially be kind to your back and neck and they tend to use basic English terminology which is more user-friendly than some. Also, they don't venture into meditation, chanting and the more spiritual aspects until later in the program which I also very much appreciated because that can turn off some people - when it was finally presented, I was ready for it. So I highly recommend YogaFit. By flying around my part of the country (NH to NC) I was able to get all my required 200 hours in a year; otherwise you may have to wait years to get the courses to come to your area!

I originally thought I'd take the program at the Himalayan Institute in the Poconos, where I used to go with my mom on yoga retreats growing up, but now can't bear adding any more traveling away from home to my life than I already do. It must be a Yoga Alliance accredited school.
