  Just a question. I'm in a rental and the carpet is at least 35 years old. Very worn down. No underlay. Concrete slab underneath. I had a friend who does house cleaning state she wont touch it as her machine will rip it to pieces due to it being so old and worn in etc..... Is there any advice some cleaners can give me? Obviously before I move out of rental it'll need to be done, but cant afford to re-carpet whole house if it will get ripped up getting it cleaned. Help! Lol

  Well THAT'S totally come thing we needed this week! The toilet is broken (after hours, of course) beyond our ability to fix so we've had to call a v expensive plumber.

  having a working toilet is part of the requirement to rent out a place. Technically, you should have called the landlord/the agent first, but you are within your rights to get a plumber out whatever the time to fix the toilet, and the landlord has to pay it. http://www.tuv.org.au/.../resources/Repairs_FS_R_062008.pdf

  Does anyone know much about property law? Waiting to hear back from tenant union but in meantime curious (and nervous!)... We had a $1000+ gas bill due to a leaking/broken hot water service. We contacted the agent as soon as we noticed leak and they sent a plumber. Trouble is the damage was done and we got the bill. Agent saying our responsibility. Anyone know otherwise?!!!
