  Looking for somewhere that has excellent dog training classes in the Des Moines, Ankeny, and Altoona area! I just recently adopted a "stray" (So the ARL said) 2 year old Scottie Dachshund. He's very well behaved, but I need someone who can help me work with him on commands, and little things like that. He has a hard time with potty training, because he can be pretty stubborn. He's also VERY skittish around men, so I'm assuming he was very abused by them. So, any place that may specialize in training abused dogs would help so much. Let me know your suggestions! P.S. I've looked into PetSmart and PetCo, and I'm not very comfortable with them. Too many negative reviews.

  I found the ARL class a waste of time and money. Two of the six dogs barked the entire time, so they got all the attention. We didn't get anywhere. Not all dogs respond to clicker/treat training. Plus, you won't always have a treat and clicker with you. Ankeny Dog Training Academy helps you train for real life situations. Shanna and Emily are awesome. I can take Trixie anywhere and know she will behave. Best money spent.

  Ankeny dog training academy! I've taken my dog a few other places and literally wasted my money and time. I don't want to say they "specialize" in large breeds but they definitely have more of the larger breed clients it seems like versus the smaller dogs! They're on facebook, message them you will not be disappointed!!
