  Hi all -- I'm seeking advice. I've never had to have a dog put down before, and I'm terribly sorry to say that I think it may be time for our dog. Does anyone have prior experiences with having to do euthanasia for their dog? I called our vet office this morning and the girl on the phone wasn't too forthcoming with any info on what to expect at the appointment or the process. Not sure if I'm going to go there or elsewhere. I'd also like recommendations for local vets where you've had experience with this and that you would recommend. Thank you.

  I just went through this a few weeks ago with my 17.5 year old pup. It was the most difficult decision I've had to make but you have to do what is best for your pet. Although I love my vet, I did not want Hunter's last life event to be a trip to the scary vet's office. I wanted him to go in his own home surrounded by family including his "sister". I had Dr. Laura Richards-Simmons, mobile vet (eMASH 408-847-1122) come to our home. I found her to be very compassionate and patient with me as I was very distraught. A few weeks later I picked up the beautiful urn and paw print. I would highly recommend Dr. Laura.
