Is it possible to give 0 stars? Gave an exorbitant amount of money, never did the work. Kept kicking the can down the road until the can could be kicked no more. Delay after delay, after delay. Then, complete radio silence; totally fell off the grid. Fully intended to take off with my money until I hired a PI and tracked him down. I demanded my money back, but only got a measly $400 back. These contractors aren't stupid. They talk amongst themselves. They know how to game the system to their advantage. He never intended on paying me back a significant portion of the money owed. You see, if you even give a penny back to the person you stole from, it goes from a "criminal offense" to a "contract dispute." You are reduced to nothing more than a bill collector. He just gave me the $400 to stay out of jail. This guy is smart enough to know that I'm probably not going to spend $10,000 on a lawyer just to get $8,000 back (after lawyer fees). When I would win a judgment, he would just poor mouth to the judge, and he would get away with not paying me. His FaceBook wall however, tells a different story. Holding bonfires, taking the kids bowling, having a girlfriend. This guy isn't exactly living the life of a king, but the money he's spending on those things should be used to pay me back. I can't afford these things. No money for a girlfriend, kids, or social gatherings. I've lost at least $40,000 in the last 3 years between two contractors (the other guy started the project, but never finished it). I'm working 7 days a week at a terrible, soul crushing job so I can get out of debt and it will still be many more months before I am. But hey, at least its an honest living; I'm not robbing from people. My yard looks like crap, as well as the inside of my house due to incomplete work. I can't do much about it right now though because of all the debt I'm in. Contractors are grifters, scum, and the lowest form of life. They'll do a few jobs for you. They'll do good work and gain your trust, but once that trust is gained, they won't hesitate to stab you in the back. Next time I even suspect anything suspicious going on, I'm going straight to the police. No reparations, no payment plans, no sympathy. I'm not going to feel bad for them or their family. They want to live a dishonest life of stealing money off the backs people like me who make their money the right way, they're just going to have to deal with the consequences. I will try my damndest to make sure they are subject to maximum punishment under the law. All I can do now is keep paying my debt down and try again in the spring to get the project done.
