  Looking for advice: I'm renting a house from an individual. On Saturday night the air conditioning went out. I called landlord & notified them on Sunday morning around 9am. By noon it was over 100 degrees in the house & no one could come fix it that day. I had to get a hotel room for me & my 3 kids (including a baby) for 2 days at $100 a night because AC people couldn't come until 3pm on Monday. My question is, does anyone know if the landlord is responsible for the hotel cost? Should I be reimbursed because you can't live in a home for 24-48 hours with no AC when the temps are 115-120 degrees outside. I'm just wondering if legally I can deduct it from the rent? Or is that a cost I have to live with because it was fixed within a reasonable amount of time?
