SPECIAL FRIENDS DAY CAMP 2014 JULY 22nd - 23, 10 AM-2:00 PM JULY 24th: 10 AM -6:30 PM
It’s time for camp again! This year will be our 17th annual Special Friends Day Camp held at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Seneca, SC. For those new campers, this is a fun time for children preschool-21 years old in Oconee County and the surrounding area. There is no cost for the camp. Transportation must be provided and a bag lunch should be brought each day. Lemonade will be furnished for lunch. The special needs child along with their sibling(s) will be matched with a youth or an adult who has worked at the camp and has been educated on the special needs of these children. Lee Ann Parker, a school teacher and mother of a special needs young man named Will, and Lynn Dobson, a retired nurse with over 35 years experience in pediatric nursing, are the founders and directors of camp. The purpose of the day camp is to provide a “normal experience” in a child’s life that may often be anything but normal. It is also time for the children’s parents and caregivers to have some respite time at no cost and to have the promise of a safe and caring environment for their children. The campers will have the opportunity to ride on a pontoon boat, go swimming, sing camp songs, go bowling, have their very own summer camp shirt, and say, “I went to camp!” We will have our annual family dinner on Thursday evening. The meal will begin at 5:30 PM on Thursday, July 24th @ St. Mark. Although St. Mark is the location of the camp, there is no obligation by the participants to financially contribute or support the church. If you have any questions please call, Lee Ann Parker @ 882-2950 or 903-2576 or e-mail her at lparker@oconee.k12.sc.us.
See you SOON!!!! Please return a registration form for each camper!!!!
