About us
Hi everybody! My name is Andreyna Sanchez but call me Dre. If you’re reading this right now I take it it’s because you’ve taken an interest in my work and for that I thank you. I’m really glad you’re here. Now, where do I begin?
I started Dre Chez Photography back in 2010, but I have to admit I’ve loved photography for way longer (yes, I do count taking photos on my little Barbie film camera when I was 5 as the first sign of this, ha). I also had a fascination with movies growing up and would often borrow my dad’s camcorder to make horror films and music videos with my friends. I didn’t know this at the time, but I was honing a strong passion during those early years. A passion that I would later rediscover when I was 20.
I didn’t start out photographing families and kids, that came later. I started off shooting street photography, actually. Only using film. I still use a lot of film in my work. I went from photographing street, to shooting fashion to now focusing on lifestyle. I believe each phase of my career has helped me become a better photographer. Street photography taught me about timing and the importance of asking for permission. It taught me to see strangers as humans and not just a photo op. Fashion taught me how to position the human body in flattering ways, how to clearly communicate with a team and work well with others. Families have taught me that sometimes you have to let go of expectations and control in order to gracefully deal with the card you’ve been given. I try to apply all of these lessons whenever I’m shooting.
In the last two years, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph over 500 families and thousands of children. This work has allowed me to become more intuitive, more compassionate, more patient. I’m thankful for every family and child I’ve ever photographed because I’ve learned something new from every single one. I believe every family has a special bond and dynamic that under the right circumstances is able... show more to shine through. Those circumstances, I believe, aren’t very difficult to attain. In my experience, a relaxed and judgement-free environment is enough and I try to achieve that with every photo shoot.
In 2015 I gave birth to my daughter. Through the event of becoming a mother and being in a committed relationship, I yearn to photograph the complex dynamics of families, children, and couples more and more. I think love is too hard to put into words, but if we’re lucky enough we can capture the magic on camera. show more
