Available in Nottingham, PA: $500 15.1-15.2 sound, unraced 3 year old filly and granddaughter of Defrere.
Mercedes had a breeder that cared more about her than how much money he could get racing her a few times before she broke down (he recognized she had offset knees). He sent her to us as an unbroke 3 year old and she arrived sweet and sane, with his daughter crying as they left. She'd been treated more like a family pet than a commodity.
We gave her a good start here. She walks and trots in a round pen and in an open grass ring. She is nearly bombproof. Everything we've asked of her and exposed her to, she takes and acts like she's been doing it for years. We started ponying her (with a rider) on the trails and she's crossed roads, logs, gone up and down hills, through woods, seen goats and strange horses and always seems happy to be there, enjoying exploring. She also lunges on a line.
She'll go in English or Western tack (though we think she's most adorable western) and is a comfy ride. She has great, strong, bare feet, single ties, stands for mounting from the ground or mounting block, and has no vices. She has no hard limits, no former injuries, and was unraced, though with her conformation we'd recommend sticking to lower levels if you want to pursue jumping with her.
While her steering could still use some work, she has great brakes and is overall a push ride. Would not recommend her for a beginner now, but could see her quickly growing into a lesson horse or beginner type horse with some finishing up.
