Any Italian restaurant in Raleigh similar to Casa San Carlo (which just closed)? I considered myself a devoted fan of the food at the recently closed Casa San Carlo here in north Raleigh, so I'm hoping to plumb the minds of this subreddit to find anything similar in Raleigh. I don't treasure driving 3 hours to the chef's new place in Morehead City, so anything closer that has a distinctly southern Italian menu with an emphasis on house-made fresh pastas and fresh sauces and a genuine preference for higher quality ingredients even if they hurt the profit margin.
Doesn't need to be expensive and no chain is probably going to fit the bill, but if any of you folks went to the place and can recommend anything else in Raleigh of similar menu and similar quality, please chime in!

Also check out [Farina](http://www.farinaraleigh.com/menu/) and [Gravy](http://www.gravyraleigh.com).

Bella Monica and Gravy are the two best Italian places I've had down here. But, I also couldn't understand the concept of what southern-italian is. Unless you're speaking of Sicily. In which case, those two options are my current favorites.
