Angelita Liaguno-Dorr (“Gigi”) opened JakeaBob’s Bay in Union Beach, named after her two sons, Jake and Bobby, in 1999. The seafood and burger joint quickly became a fixture in the community. She turned it into a place to get a bucket of steamers and a mug of beer, listen to live music at the tiki bar and gaze at the skyline of lower Manhattan off in the distance.
Hurricane Sandy destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses in Union Beach, collapsing JakeaBob’s roof and washing its deck out to sea. The storm damaged her building beyond repair and it had to be demolished. After almost 4 years, Gigi’s hopes of rebuilding finally became a reality and JakeaBob’s was re-opened on June 18, 2016.
JakeaBob’s has a fully operational mobile kitchen, newly built custom wooden tiki bar, beautiful paver patio for live music and deck for outdoor waterfront dining with an exceptional view of New York City.
Looking for recommendations on restaurants in the area with out door seating, nothing too fancy or super expensive. I go to Off the Hook, and On the Deck often, just looking for other places. Thanks in advance! :)
