Request for recommendations for a layer to help me with being appointed guardian of my 18 year old disabled child. Title sums it up. I’m in Newport News and my son who is both intellectually and physically disabled recently turned 18.
He 100% requires assistance in all needs, eating, bathing, using the restroom (he is in diapers). Additionally he does not have the cognitive abilities to be on his own or even make any decisions regarding his care.
I need a lawyer to help me with the process of becoming his legal guardian. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
* excuse the typo in the title

If you don't find what you need here, maybe contact [Eggleston Services](https://www.egglestonservices.org/) or [Hope House](https://www.hopehouse.org/). Both are local non-profits that work with adults with disabilities. They may have services of their own that you and your son could benefit from, but surely they will be aware of and able to recommend local attorneys who have experience in these situations. Best of luck to you and your son in finding the help you need ❤️
