  HELP: Does anyone have any advice....In the ice storm my husband totaled his truck, we got $5000, bought an old used truck from a place in Grand Prairie, now that truck has cost us over $2000 to fix. Last night on his way home from the Police Academy it broke down on the side of 35 near Robson Ranch as smoke was coming from the engine. I want to possibly find a place that takes junk cars but will also tow it? We are going to have to purchase a new-used car but how can I salvage just a little bit of our money from this LEMON of a truck (the dealer is no help and doesn't care we had problems from day one). Sorry for the long story but I could use advice, my hubby is training all weekend and already stressed. THANKS! PS we live in Justin and were thinking of going to James Wood in Denton for a used car (we got my suburban from the Decatur James Wood. Unless someone knows a place where we can get a better deal but not be sold another lemon by a jerk!)

  As stated www.car-part.com lets you search junkyards nationally for parts. its also a great reference site for finding fitment details (like what differential ratios are available for a particular year/model). Note this is typically junkyards that inventory parts and charge market rates, pull the parts for you, often offer shipping, etc. For "you pull it" yards, try www.picknpull.com or www.row52.com (Row52 has pictures of the cars)

  My car was broken into, and my liability insurance doesn't cover it. Anybody know a frugal way to replace my driver's side window? I'm no mechanic or anything, but I've replaced things on my car myself before. Is it possible to just get one at a junkyard? Or buy one online somehow? My insurance does offer a discount, so that I can get it replaced for $164, so I'm looking for a cheaper deal than that if possible.

  Usually there's a small stand/kiosk kind of thing at every junk yard i've gone to (Pick-n-pull) where they will install your glass and all for around 120 bucks (depending on car of course). for me it cost me 125 for a 2001 ford focus windshield. give them a shot.
