I'm a liscensed Esthetician looking to add bridal makeup to my practice. Looking for suggestions of where to buy a good quality professional starter kit. Thank you!
Shawna T. replied:
camerareadycosmetics.com have some great starter kits.
Susan B. replied:
I took a Dina Ousley Dinair workshop while I was still in school. I got a nice starter machine and some colors. As far as a starter kit, just mix and match brands and formulations depending on your clientele. Check out Camera Ready Cosmetics, Frends Beauty. Great companies, outstanding selection.
Nicole D. replied:
Camera Ready Cosmetics! I got my first pro kit through them 6 years ago in preparation for my first classes as a new MUA. Check them out at www.camerareadycosmetics.com
I need an alcohol activated color pallet, but most sites charge an arm & a leg for shipping.
I live in Canada and would love to know of any Canadian distributors, or a place near Ottawa where one can be purchased.
Thanks!

Try Camera Ready Cosmetics. GeneviĆØve Bigras . It's an amazing site to order from. Not sure how fast you need it, but they sell Skin Illustrator palettes and you may be able to get a discount. http://camerareadycosmetics.com/

If you are looking to "practice and play" I would reccomend BH Cosmetics. You can always find a % coupon code. For items that are more on the Pro side always go with Camera Ready Cosmetics. So much research can be confusing but have fun with it. It's a great learning experience.
Hello fellow IMK members! I just want to start off that I live in Canada, and do not have access to a lot of products that some of you in other parts of the USA have. I am a very busy makeup artist particularly with weddings. I am looking for a spot brush cleaner that I can use in between clients on weddings, photoshoots etc. Where I do not have time to deep cleanse my brushes. I would love to try Parian spirit or the Cinema Secrets ones but a lot of websites do not ship this to Canada, or I would have to drive over 5 hours to get my hands on it. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good spot cleansers that great that I can find/order in Canada. I currently use Mac brush cleanser because it's inexpensive with my pro card- and it does the job just fine- but I'm looking for something that dries faster and doesn't leak as much! Thanks :)
Molly L. replied:
Doesn't camerareadycosmetics.com ship to Canada? You can purchase cinema secrets from them! :)
Any fellow MUA's in Miami, Florida? If so, do any of you know where to find brands like Mehron, Graftobian, Kryolan, Ben Nye, etc at a retailer ? I'd love to take a look at the products to see them before I purchase them. Thank you in advance.

Worse comes to worse, go to camerareadycosmetics.com and look for the samples you can buy
Anyone heading to the US from March onward this year? Need to build up my makeup kit and tools OR does anyone know any good websites to buy from?

Can anyone recommend good quality cosmetics sold in Canada to an industry newbie? There are so many out there and I would like to hear from the Makeup Artists in the group what they recommend (loaded question maybe?).
Mandy P. replied:
I'm in Canada and I order from Camerareadycosmetics.com all the time. They have reasonable shipping rates and I've never had an issue with items at the border
Chantelle B. replied:
There aren't any brands that I know of that can't be bought in Canada, it's just where you live or you'll be buying online. Some company's don't ship here but by using sites like Camera Ready Cosmetics to get the product, and they give a pro discount!
Denise B. replied:
Lol, Lindsey, FA is from Calgary! Colette, another possible local source of pro brands such as Ben Nye, Kryolan, Mehron would be theatrical or costume shops. Blur Makeup Room in Toronto keeps expanding their product lines, offer a pro discount and the staff are very helpful. For online ordering, as mentioned, Camera Ready Cosmetics, Frends, offer a pro discount and great customer service. Other Canadian brands you might consider are Vasanti, Lise Watier, Cover FX, Noir, Marcelle, Cargo, Sappho...
I'm looking for a good setting powder. I was thinking of getting Nars - light reflecting loose setting powder or MAC's prep + prime transparent finishing powder.
Which setting powder have you guys used and which one would you recommend?
Adore H. replied:
MsMara Lor you gotta go on to the actual sites like camerareadycosmetics.com
Can anyone give a great cheek palette suggestion ?? I prefer a professional brand like Kryolan, Mehron, Ben Nye etc only because I am just starting to build my makeup kit. So I am looking for great pigmentation that wont break the bank
DeMi F. replied:
Hi Theresa Tanner, I would suggest purchasing an empty palette or two and fill with LaFemme blushes. They are highly pigmented, a little goes a long way and they are a great buy, very affordable@$2.95 or so per pan. Check them out at www.camerareadycosmetics.com.
Can anyone recommend a good palette with matte neutral colors. Not super expensive but worth the money and decent quality. Was told BH cosmetics had one but don't know anything about the brand.
Jennifer W. replied:
go for pro shadows like mehron, ben nye and kryolan. camerareadycosmetics.com has alot of Pro products.
