"Poke Bowls Available This Very Moment
Craving poke bowls but can’t wait for the next pop-up or upcoming restaurant? Not to worry. There are a handful of restaurants with poke bowls on the menu. Here is a roundup of where you can get your marinated fish fix right now:
Liberty Kitchen & Oyster Bar (1050 Studewood)
The Gulf Coast seafood spot offers more than your standard Southern fare. Here, diners can construct their own poke bowls too. Look for tuna or salmon poke, choice of dressing and add-ins (like grilled pineapple, Macadamia nuts, and pork belly carnitas. There’s also vegetarian options with diced vegetables and choice of cucumber or kale-lined bowls. Be aware bowls can become expensive depending on the amount of toppings added on. Fruit and veggie mix-ins are $1 each, additional proteins (fried egg, grilled spam) are $2.
You can also craft your own poke bowls at the following Liberty Kitchen concepts:
Liberty Kitchen and Oysterette (4224 San Felipe)
Little Liberty (2365 Rice Blvd, Ste A)
Liberty Kitchen Garden Oaks (3715 Alba Rd)
SushiPop (9770 Katy Freeway, Ste 100)
Sushi rolls may reign supreme at this Memorial-area restaurant, but the island-inspired dish served here has its share of fans. This west Houston spot’s version is pretty straightforward: chili sesame oil marinated tuna, bean sprouts, cucumbers and avocado dressed in ponzu over rice.
Izakaya (318 Gray St)
Coming off a successful week-long poke bonanza, Midtown’s hip Japanese pub is giving diners what they want: more of the marinated fish specialty. Chef Jean-Philippe Gaston (Reef, Cove) extends the Hawaiian and Japanese-inspired menu for a limited time. Indulge in well-crafted rice-filled bowls of tuna, salmon, scallop and crab for $7 (small serving; includes two ounces) or $13 for a regular serving."
