Straight razor shaves? I'll be in Barneveld for my wedding June 10th. I do not live in Wisconsin, nor have ever so my knowledge of where to find things is limited. I have googled and found a few barbers and hair places that do straight razor shaves, but I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience or recommendations for a place to get a beard trim, and straight razor shave?

I got a straight-razor shave from Claire at [Thorps](http://thorps.org). It was very relaxing, especially the series of hot towels. Not the closest shave, but worth it to "treat yo' self".
Recommend a barber New to Madison and looking for a barber who's especially good with beards. West side is a bonus, but I don't mind driving a bit if you know a great one.

Hi neighbors,
I just relocated here from out of state and am looking for recommendations for hair stylists over here on the east side of Madison. Anyone love their stylist? Thanks!
I know I've asked this in the past but does anyone know of a good hair salon in Madison? willing to pay a bit more for a higher quality of haircut since I can't get my hair cut by Michelle Marie Wheeler who always does a fantastic job!

Tera at Thorps. I just went from a shoulder length to chin length 'do. She did a great job and she is super nice. Their pricing is on their website.
Good, old school barbershop? As the title suggests, does anyone know of a good barbershop in Madison?
I'm talking old dude, straight blade, the whole nine yards.

Another haircut recommendation? Going from long curly hair to shorter cut. So I have long curly hair and I want a semi-drastic change. I'm looking to hack away about 8 inches off it. I'm looking for a place to get my hair cut that isn't a ridiculous price but someone who is good with curly hair. Here is a [picture of me](http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/528663_10101348411471598_219705357_37255987_1475850502_n.jpg). I just want something more fun and light for summer. I also don't want to pay more than $40 if that is even possible. Haha.

Stephen, who is now at [Thorps](http://thorps.org/), cut my hair from long to short a few years back, and I was super happy with it. Then he moved to the east side, and I don't care about my hair enough to drive across town. But, I would highly recommend him, according the the website his cuts start at $40, but I'm sure that's for men's, so he would probably be outside your $40 limit in the end.
