  Looking for an honest mechanic Hi, I am the owner of a 2014 Dodge Challenger V-6. The check engine light has been on for a while, so I took it to the dealer for a diagnosis at $200. They sat on it all day Friday and Saturday and never even checked it. I went to pick it up because I kind of need my car! Upon arrival, they were non-committal and saying it is a 'timing issue'. I don't know anything but I feel like I'm about to be taken for a ride (no pun intended). Is there an honest down to earth mechanic in Austin that can take a look and give me a fair assessment of what it would take?

  http://theatypicalmechanic.com These guys come to your house and I thought they were reasonable. My car inspection was overdue and they found the emissions leak and fixed it. They don't do inspections.

  It might be a little late, but I'll put in my two cents anyway. [Atypical Mechanic] (http://www.theatypicalmechanic.com/) is fantastic. It is a mobile mechanic company that comes to you so you don't have to have your car towed. I had them come out and replace my alternator and was actually charged what I was quoted on the phone. They are fast, straightforward, and do reliable work. They were able to come the day after I called for an estimate.
