zalemam replied:TaxSlayer.com for truly free State and Federal regardless of how much you make. Its good if you have nothing complicated to submit. I submitted mine yesterday, all I had was a simple w2. It took less than 15 mins to complete and its easy and to the point. I did compare it with Credit Karma Tax and I had the same refund there too. I went with Tax Slayer since Credit Karma did not have support for my state yet.

Usually the federal return is done free, and you pay for the state prep. My advice is to plug your info into to numerous online prep places such as Turbo Tax or Tax Slayer and see which one gives you the largest return and the lowest cost for turning it in. My husband and I checked out 4 online tax preparing sites last year and they all had different quotes. =) Good luck!

I have been doing my own plus some family members for years now. taxslayer is i think 19.95 which they take out of your return so you don't have to pay anything up front. if you need help let me know!
