Burt the Dirt is one of Washington, D.C.’s most exciting Americana bands. With a rotating lineup of some of the region’s most talented musicians, Burt the Dirt is indebted to the country-folk twang that emerged in Laurel Canyon in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Like many bands formative in the development of Americana based Rock n Roll, Burt the Dirt features several strong vocalists and songwriters who each contribute to the band's growing songbook.
Burt the Dirt thrives in their live performances that feature strong harmonies and skillful instrumentation. They have performed at some of the most loved clubs in the Washington, D.C. area such as Gypsy Sally's and The Hamilton. Throughout each show, members often take turns on different instruments and lead vocals. Dynamically, the band is able to exude a gritty mellowness, think American Beauty era Grateful Dead, while retaining a tight musicianship; they honor the tone of each individual song, playing with a patient balance of loose feel and melodic precision. With compelling originals that sit comfortably beside covers of The Band and Gram Parsons, Burt the Dirt have amassed a catalogue that is sure to impress old-school Americana heads while winning over new ones.
