Steel frame dents - welder or repair suggestions?
Some swine a few years ago tried to pinch my bike using my Dlock as a lever. It's had a dent in two places on the cross bar and stem ever since but it's been good until now....well my local Evans mechanics have twice said the dent has gotten worse and is now dangerous. No word about repairs apart from replacing the top and it being pricey. I do wonder if I'm being taken for a ride. Genesis never replied to my inquiry about of it is dangerous. It's my main commuting bike. It's steel. It's genesis. It can be repaired right?
Anyone able to recommend a welder or proficient frame repair person to get a quote at the minimum.
Cheers

You may not be taken for a ride. I've had a dent from d-lock develop into a crack in few weeks' time and then the frame just snapped. Local mechanic suggested I just bite the bullet and change the frame. Modern steel frames use rather thin steel - wedding will create a weak spot. You can chat with these guys - https://www.armourtex-powdercoating.co.uk they used to be based in hackney but now moved further north, they might be able to help.
