My first solo record, "Element 115," is named after the latest and very unstable heavy element on the periodic table. When the 115 atomic particles meet they explode immediately. Before anyone gets a good look at the element, or has a chance to understand its use, it is obliterated. The analogy represents a short term relationship that suddenly explodes, and the subsequent desire to understand what just happened, while putting the pieces back together again.
Legendary producer, Kramer heard the demos and we started recording a full- length that Fin Records planned to release this Fall. When Fin collapsed I decided to release it myself, starting my own lane, Mettle Records.
Some things that have been said about this music: It has the intelligence of Laurie Anderson and Meredith Monk, with the heart and vulnerability of Kate Bush, the poetic lyricism of Morrisey and the guts of PJ Harvey. That's a lot of music loves in one biteful, but I'll bite! (thanks for the generous words slammed together). I hope to see you at one of the shows and stay tuned for the on going activities. For more info: http://www.grettaharleymusic.com Thanks for following!!
