  ISO of retirement boarding in the Sandhills area. A dear friend of mine in California has to retire her 14 year old warmblood due to degenerative suspensory ligament desmitis. The ground in Southern California is too hard for him, and she is hoping to find a place out here near me to retire him on softer, more forgiving ground. She is looking for pasture board, and hoping for something under $400 per month. I don't know how realistic that is since full care would be needed (I would certainly drop by to keep an eye on him, but with my three horses it would be hard to take care of him too and do him justice). He is a stallion right now, but she knows she will most likely have to geld him and is willing to do so. He is very sweet and well mannered. Any suggestions are very appreciated!

  Please ask these retirement farms the type of feeds & hay they are feeding and does that work for the senior horse coming from CA. They don't feed coastal hay in CA. Our farm, Rough Diamonds Farm in Aberdeen would be happy to talk with you or the owner about the horses needs. I cannot do full board for $400 if you would still like to talk about the farm please give a call 910-551-2470. We have large paddocks with automatic heated waters, sheds with fans for the summer. We have retirees, mares & foals & Lay-ups, many references available.
