About us
We believe in serving food that we would feed our children. That’s why, when we opened Oasis Vegetarian Café in 1996, we vowed to provide our community with delicious, accessible, plant-based food. Being family-owned, we believe in operating a thriving business with integrity. Our driving force is love - for service and for good food. For over 20 years, we’ve watched our family, our community, and our business grow and evolve. Now more than ever, our mission is clear, and we believe it is vital to the health of our community.
Oasis is re-launching! We need our community's support to make much needed improvements and optimize our customer experience.
Why change?
Oasis has been a favorite for over 20 years. Why change? Put simply, times change. Information changes, as do the studies and findings that determine what truly nourishes us and helps us thrive. We felt compelled to change our menu because we realized that improvements could be made in quality and consciousness. In recent years, we’ve discovered that highly processed veggie meats, GMO ingredients, and conventionally-grown vegetables can be detrimental to our family, and our customer’s health. We couldn’t possibly continue doing honest business knowing this. That’s when we decided to upgrade our menu to items we make ourselves; that way, we know EXACTLY what they’re made of! Now, we know we are serving you wholesome, healthy, and fresh plant-based cuisine. We make everything from scratch in-house, daily. We’ve requested that our suppliers bring us produce daily, so we can promise our customers the best and freshest ingredients possible. Everything is sourced with integrity and is non-GMO, organic when possible, and some ingredients are even sourced right in our very own neighborhood! So...why change? Well, how couldn’t we?
How have we changed?
Specifically, how have we changed? Previously, our menu was a plethora of Central-American classics, burgers, burritos, and a variety of drinks. We... show more
offered a variety of veggie meat substitutes that are created in factories and boast a long list of unpronounceable ingredients. We offered fried foods that you can get at any old fast-food joint like onion rings and fries. We made lots of things in house, but outsourced quite a bit of product. Although people loved our old menu, we struggled in our small kitchen to keep up with the vast menu and deeply knew that we could do and serve better.
We’ve changed our menu to be systemised and streamlined, yet customizable and fun. Customers select their vessel, so-to-speak, whether it be a bowl, burrito, salad, burger, or tacos, then, step-by-step, select the protein, veggie, and sauce to top it off. Our customers can find their favorite combination inspired-by their old-menu favorite or select a new combination every time they visit! Now, every option in every category is homemade. Our classic vegan steak, now named “carnitas,” has always been a favorite, our eggs are organic, our tofu is hand-marinated, non-GMO, and organic, and our Oasis Patty is our signature gluten-free veggie patty. Each of our veggie selections are delicious and our four new sauces are incredible. From our hearty and savory Red Pepper Sauce to our light and fresh Maple Herb Vinaigrette, we’ve got a sauce to fit every palate.
Instead of pre-combined dishes like our “Steak Burger” or “Portobello Wrap,” our customers can now build their own favorites with our Garlic Herb Mushrooms or Carnitas. Since our menu is more streamlined, we can now focus on bringing out delicious and fresh flavors. The energy and resources we spent on fried foods and pre-made products is now redirected to preparing fresh ingredients like herbs, veggies, and fruits. Even our drinks and smoothies are made with whole fruits and veggies and sweetened naturally. Food preparation time has increased, but it’s worth it! As time goes on, wait times will decrease because of the simplified and streamlined menu.
Long-time customers will notice a streamlined approach to our prices as well. $9 for a dish and $13 for a meal may seem different from what they’re accustomed to, but if they value our improvements and their health (and consider the average prices for a meal WITHOUT integrity in the area) they’ll realize that it simply makes sense. And, to avoid a picket line, we’ve kept some long-time favorite items like pupusas, tamales, and corn dog with that magic yellow sauce on a Classics menu.
Oh, and our homemade hot sauce isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
