  Hi! I have a friend who is renting a room in a house. Her lease allowed her to have 2 cats (which she does) but it expired in June and was never renewed. Her landlord called her yesterday and told her they are rewriting her lease and she must get rid of her cats within 30 days. Needless to say, she is devastated. Does she have any legal recourse here? Does anyone know of someone renting a room that allows cats? Does anyone know of someone willing to take two cats? Any help or advice you can provide will be welcomed! Thanks.

  Hi Everett. My name is Leisa Wells and I own River Valley Property Management. The answer is (unfortunately), yes they can ask her to get rid of her cats but if she paid a pet deposit, they also have to return that to her (granted the cats did no damage). Did she try talking to them and ask why. Find it odd they would change their mind after one year unless they were doing some significant damage or something.
