A first-class experience all 'round. Since you own a bike -- and if you're reading this, you most likely do -- you already know that finding the trifecta of bike mechanics is tough: reliable, competent, and communicative. I'm happy to endorse Kane for a home-run in all three: - communication was excellent: he replied to my online inquiry within 24 hours, explained everything he was going to do clearly, then again after he did it, prompt replies to both phone and texts. - competence was obvious: I had a set of messed-up carbs stemming from very poor build workmanship (see another of my other Yelp reviews), and Kane got me up and running smoothly: the bike's never sounded, or performed better. - reliable: no delays, no excuses -- Kane was exactly on time, arrived when he said he would, delivered as promised (even warning me on one occasion that he was going to be 15 minutes late). For some reason it's tough to find a motorcycle mechanic in the east end of the downtown. There are several options out west-end, and others if you go deep into Scarborough, but centre-east is lonely. When my local guy decided this season to "turn away all old bikes", I was left at the beginning of warm weather with no mechanic and few options beyond the colossal hassle of having CAA tow my bike either deep west or deeper east. To quote an old meme "ain't nobody got time for that!". I found Kane online and gave him a go: score. The beauty of Kane's service is its mobility: he came to my garage, disassembled my carbs, took them back to his workshop, cleaned, replaced, and repaired them, and then brought them back to my garage to assemble them there, all within 3 days. Superlative customer service and beyond convenient for someone as time-starved as me (hell, as we all are). Kane's a veteran in the industry, and he shows up in a van stuffed to the gills with equipment and tools. If you imagine the competence of Tony Stark crossed with the laid-back, personable demeanour of The Dude from The Big Lebowski, you'll get a sense of the vibe that Kane offers. He's relaxed, frank, no bullshit, no nonsense, and as passionate about bikes as we all are -- some of his more common services (like rebuilding carbs) have a flat rate attached so there are no surprises. I think it's an amazing business model. I have a number of other small issues to address this summer (with an '82 Yamaha café racer, there are always going to be small issues) and I'm not going to hesitate to call him back. Thanks Kane! Great work, brother.
