Any easy dress patterns for relative beginners? Hello! I did a bit of sewing back in high school, but it’s been about five years and I would like to pick up my machine again to start making some of my own clothes. I would really love a simple pinafore or smock dress pattern to start out with, as I’m sure the process will be messy but I would like to eventually make product I can wear. Are there any easy dress patterns out there you might recommend for a relative beginner? Thank you!

Have a look through Silhouette Patterns [Website](https://www.silhouettepatterns.com/) and [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCukMMN2JntBewe8L_6 cCJTA)... what I like about them is that there are videos and webcasts about fitting and modifying the patterns so you can potentially get a lot of use from just a few patterns, and I like the methods used. There are also sew-alongs. I got a couple of the basics (woven shirt #600 and pants #3414, knit top #195 and yoga pants #3400) and have made a wide assortment of wardrobe staples from them, that's what I wear.
Hello, I have to do an alteration for a lady. Her size is 14. Would that be a 34 waist? I should know after all these years and would have to dig around for a pattern to check. I need to post this...
I agree. I find New Look and Burda are truer to size than any commercial American pattern company. Silouhettes patterns are probably the best --go to www.silhouettepatterns.com Kathy
